Alas, O misfortune. This island of Cyprus must be cursed for the devil has taken many souls and destroyed all my close friends.
Since my last entry, much has occurred. Let me begin with explaining to you the issues of Iago. It seems that Iago was much more jealous then first appeared. With this jealousy along with his apparent hatred for Othello, he devised a plan to meet all his needs to ensure the downfall of Othello and I. Many incidents occurred that I cannot even begin to explain, but I assure you that my hatred is pure and Iago will never be forgiven. Iago put a wedge between Othello and Desdemona, with me as the main problem. Iago managed to create a story, which involved Desdemona and I having an affair. He destroyed my love life and ripped from me all that I held dear. My Bianca found Desdemona’s handkerchief in my room, Iago planted it there confirming Othello’s doubts of me and his wife.
Believing Iago’s lies, Othello killed Desdemona and eventually himself. Along with these two dead, Emilia and Roderigo were killed also to further Iago’s plot.
Othello might have spared Iago for he was great of heart, but the next time I see him he will be praying for death.
With the death of so many, everyone here is clueless on what to do. Othello was in charge, and after him Iago whom we obviously cannot trust. I suspect I will be reinstated and promoted to general until we get back to the mainland. I’m left to piece together the rest of Iago’s plots and discover how much damage he did.
